Scratch-made California cooking, Harris Ranch steaks and the whole of Bass Lake out the window. Thirty minutes from Yosemite's south gate, and worth the drive on its own.
Elevated dining near Yosemite
Every dish here starts with what the Sierra is growing. Chef Trampert cooks farm to table in the literal sense: local and organic produce where it exists, Harris Ranch beef, seafood in on the day, and house-made soups and pastas rather than anything that arrived frozen.
Come for a slow breakfast while the mist is still coming off the water, or an unhurried dinner as the light goes gold on the far shore. Either way the view is the same one people have been driving up for since the forties.

The main room. Handcrafted wood, lodge-warm and glass along the whole lake side. Steaks, fresh seafood, handcrafted pastas, house-made soups and whatever the kitchen is excited about that week.
Savor the local flavors from the grill
The casual one, right on the water. Burgers, shareables, fresh seafood, sandwiches and salads, plus handcrafted cocktails and local craft beer. Ask for the Drunken Clams. Lakeside patio when it's warm, cozy indoors when it isn't.
Music, games and craft brews
Next to Pines Market, and the centre of Bass Lake after dark. Sixteen-plus taps from hazy IPAs to clean lagers, pool, and a Hot Summer Nights lineup that runs Karaoke Thursdays, DJ Fridays and Live Band Saturdays.
Sunset dinners and what the kitchen is running now
Sunset Specials run every day from four to six: a full entrée with soup or a garden salad, fresh bread and butter. The kitchen also runs seasonal plates alongside the main card.
“Few restaurants near Yosemite offer this combination of mountain charm and waterfront beauty.”

Our story
Historic photographs, the original signage, handcrafted furnishings and Bass Lake memorabilia are still all over the building. Coming here is a meal, and it is also walking into a room a lot of families have been walking into for three generations.
Opens as Freeman's Bass Lake Lodge and quickly becomes the gathering place for anyone heading into the Sierra National Forest.
Becomes part of The Pines Resort, carrying on as the dining room for generations of returning visitors.
The original building is lost to a grease fire.
Rebuilt and reopened, deliberately keeping the character and the legacy that made it a local landmark.
The place itself
